Bachelor of Physiotherapy is an undergraduate academic course in a medical science field known as physiotherapy. Physiotherapy uses physical agents such as exercise, massage, and other modalities to provide treatment to patients whose movement and function are threatened by ageing, injury, disease, or environmental factors.

The duration of BPT is 4½ years, which includes an internship of 6 months. Physiotherapy courses provide prospective students with core competencies such as manual therapy, therapeutic activity and application of electro-physical modalities. There are several colleges of physical therapy that offer courses in physiotherapy. The course of physical therapy specially designed for those who have compassion for the sick or injured. Bachelor of Physiotherapy Eligibility

  • To pursue BPT, one must have passed 12th standard or passed with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (including practical), provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately.
  • For the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) degree, there is a common entrance examination (CET). Admission based mainly on CET marks.
  • Physiotherapy applicant’s graduation age must be at least 17 years.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy Specialization

A candidate is required to attend at least 80 per cent of the total classes held in a year in all subjects scheduled for that year, individually, in theory, and to become eligible for practical/clinical. For 13 appear for the University examination in the first attempt. Principals should inform their college, under intimacy at the university, attendance details at the end of each term without fail.

Criteria for Pass

 Main Subjects

A candidate is declared to have passed the university examination in a subject if he has obtained 50% marks in theory and 50% is separately practicable. For the calculation of 50% marks, in theory, marks scored in internal assessment [theory] will be added to the written and viva voce examination in the university and passed in the practical; the marks obtained in the university will combine with the practical examination and internal assessment [practical]

Subsidiary Subjects (Supporting subjects)

To pass in the Subsidiary subjects, the candidate has to obtain 35% of the total marks prescribed for the subject. Marks obtained must be sent to the university 15 days before the commencement of the university examination.

How is the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course beneficial?

A student who has graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree can set up his clinic for physiotherapy.

After completing a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy, a person can obtain a master’s in physical therapy. A physiotherapist may go for a physiotherapy sub-speciality certificate. These speciality areas include cardiac and pulmonary medicine, sports medicine, geriatrics, neurological, orthopaedic, and pediatric and electrophysiology physiotherapy.
